Flat style screens are free standing and are removed to start a fire then replaced. The is made to cover the hearth opening. They do not get attached to the fire place or hearth so are completly independant of the fire box area.

Sail boat screen - 36" x 36" forged iron frame with boats and hills which duplicated the view from the clients back yard.
Forged bronze fire place screen 30" x 40" with roses that measured 3" wide. This screen went into an 1808 restored sitting room in Tyringham, Massachusetts
Arched Free Standing Screen
Modern style - Free standing 28" x 36" screen with frameless corners made out of stainless steel with a polished satin finish. This screen fit under the mantel stone so it looked like one continuous piece.
Heron screen details were 40" x 60" in size and forged iron repousse herons in a marsh, the herons were 8" tall.
