Mount Hunger Gate
Monterey, (Berkshire County), Massachusetts
Hand Forged Driveway Gate with a View of The Mountains Through the Laurel and Pine Trees
This driveway gate is fabricated out of 2" square steel tubing for the frame and 1/2" square pickets for the body. The mountains, laurel, pine tree were all custom made using the traditional blacksmith techniques of the forge and hammer. The laurel flowers were individually water jet cut out of flat stock then formed to make a flower. The pine cones started out as a round piece of steel that was heated and formed to make different size pine cones. Everything looked so real it is amazing what can be done with a piece of metal. The gates were finished in a metallic bronze and equipped with a power gate opener.
